Ross and Campbell Field are a father and son team who have entered the The Global Ocean Race 2011-12. With multiple circumnavigations, Offshore and inshore race victories, world and national level championships they will be a force to reckon with in the Global Ocean Race.

Rolex Fastnet Race 2011

The Fastnet will be the pairings first competitive race on their Class 40 – BSL in preparation for the start of the 2011/2012 Global Ocean Race. With 20 Class 40’s on the start line the pair have decided to sail fully crewed for the 360 mile dash to the Fastnet Rock finishing in Plymouth. The aim is to test the boat, equipment and sails ahead of the start of the 30,000 mile Global Ocean Race this September.

The Class 40 fleet will start at 11.20 (BST) from the Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes on 14thAugust, the team expect to cross the finish line sometime on Wednesday with the winds looking lighter than originally predicted earlier in the week.

Hosted every two years by the RORC in association with the Royal Western Yacht Club, Plymouth, and the Royal Yacht Squadron, the prestigious Rolex Fastnet Race first run in 1925. Five classes and 350 boats will compete including the 20 Class 40s.
